Our children can watch how the food is prepared and what’s needed to make delicious food. Our meal plan tells you what your child will eat.
Our qualified staff are supported by trainees, interns and people doing civilian service. We are respectful and attentive in our dealings with each other and we promote a team spirit. We make sure that our staff also receive the support they need and are able to better themselves, and we promote their personal development - your child benefits from this approach.
- working for children since 1 June 1889…
The St. Leonhard daycare centre was set up on 1 June 1889. You can find it at Socinstrasse 51, in a prime location in the Spalen district, a popular residential area in the city of Basel. It is easy to get to by public transport.
District kindergartens, schools and pretty town parks where children can play are all in close proximity and only a few minutes’ walk away. The daycare centre has the legal organisation of an association and is run by a management board. The association is independent, religiously and politically neutral, and private. The St. Leonhard daycare centre is financed by subsidies from the Canton of Basel-Stadt, parental contributions, bequests and donations.
Educational theory changes with the times and is subject to the whims of fashion. We base our approach on the tried and tested, new findings from educational science as well as life experience and pragmatism. Our focus is on how to best foster the development of the children!
There is no room for compromise when it comes to the safety of children. You entrust us with what you hold most precious. And precious things must be protected. We provide operational and educational safety, to make sure your child stays healthy and unharmed. Safety has a high priority for us.
We follow strict hygiene practices on our premises and in the kitchen. We make sure our surroundings are conducive to health and our rigorous hygiene concept ensures that our environment is clean. Hygiene is important from early childhood. We are committed to this and put it into practice!
